Guided walks with the MonLife Countryside Access Team

The Monmouthshire Countryside Access Team arrange a series of guided walks in the beautiful Monmouthshire Countryside. The walks, led by trained volunteers, will take you on journeys of discovery in the Monmouthshire Countryside. They vary in length from 3 to 10 miles, but are usually around 6 or 7 miles. They will take you through fields and woodlands and along lanes and rivers, encountering points of interest on the way. Some level of fitness will be needed for the walks, but you will not be on a route march and leaders will adjust the pace to suit the group. This is a great opportunity to keep fit, improve your wellbeing, make new friends and find out more about our fantastic county in the safe hands of our knowledgeable leaders.

The Kymin and the Biblins - Sunday 19th May (10:00am)

Join us for this 9.5 mile (15.25km) walk which will start with a steep ascent along the Offa’s Dyke National Trail to the top of the Kymin hill. From here you will hopefully enjoy fantastic views across Monmouth and the Monnow Valley. Continue through woodland to visit the Suckstone and Near Harkening Rock. Cross the river and return to Monmouth meandering along the banks of the River Wye.

It should take about 6 hours to complete.

Llanarth and Clytha Park - Sunday 2nd June (10:30am)

Join us for this walk of 7 miles (11 km) in the little frequented north of the county, following lanes, tracks and old paths to hopefully get some memorable views of area. We start from Llanarth and walk south past the remains of an old chapel and Clytha Park and then up a lengthy and moderately steep climb to the ridge, hopefully giving views to the north and south. We will return via a hill fort, an old church and some little seen parkland to the start.

It should take about 4 hours to complete.
